We celebrate her: Charmaine Hayden, CEO of Face4music
Charmaine Hayden is best known for being one half of the dynamic force behind the triple award winning modeling agency, Face4music. Face4music is now the leading ‘curve’ specialist model agency. Charmaine and Lina Naima (her business partner) had the unique role of having to coach their beautiful models that were curvy with a wide spectrum of sizes, to walk tall and be confident despite not fitting the status quo requirements to be a model. It was after being nominated a number of times for being a positive role model that Charmaine decided to take up confidence coaching, write and self publish a book on modeling, and set up a make over site called celebforanight.co.uk after all this was what they were good at. Making people look and feel like celebrities and in some cases actually turning that into a full-blown reality.Charmaine Hayden is not just known for her excellence as a businesswoman. Her deep faith and strong social conscience have prompted her to speak out on issues that are hot-button topics in the media industry.
How did you ‘Make it Happen’?
I made it happen by getting started! I am a firm believer that the best way to succeed is to get started.
What kind of woman are you?
I would definitely say that I am a Glambitious woman.
What drives you to run your business?
I have so much fun, I genuinely love what I do so its not hard to motivate myself to get out of bed every morning and get it cracking.
Why do you do what you do for a living?
My businesses are my sole occupations and the way I earn my living so I have to make it work as it’s my only source of income.
Who has been the biggest help to your career to date?
My biggest help to my career to date has been my family they have always been so supportive. My family are incredibly supportive especially of the fact that I am very time poor at this stage of my life so I do not get to spend as much family time with them as I would like to.What Kind of teenager were you?
I was incredibly academic but very much a rebellious/ tomboy teenager. I was just very fortunate that the school needed me to boost their league table results.
What has been your biggest challenge in business?
My biggest challenge thus far has been learning how to value my services. It was by far my biggest hurdle because I love what I do soo much it almost felt like it was wrong to place a value on it. (Please note that phase is over now!)
What is your biggest regret?
My biggest regret was not being more fearless earlier on in the business. I think over cautiousness and a desire to be perfect prior to starting can be a huge stumbling block. I read a quote that changed my life though “ Do not worry about being perfect before you start after all amateurs built the arc and professionals built the Titanic “What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of my career so far was when I was nominated for a National Diversity award for ‘Positive role model’ in 2014.
What do you know for sure?
‘What I know is that if you do what you love the money will come’
