Having worked with Sabina we can confirm that she is what we have nicknamed a ‘Media Beast’ (in a good way) she is extremely talented, creative and produces results that are of the highest standard imaginable in such a timely manner whilst paying extreme attention to detail. (hence the beast reference!) We loved every single second working with Sabina and her team and today we are celebrating her awesomeness!
How did you ‘Make it Happen’?
I made it happen by committing to my dream. I realised that my self taught filmmaker and photographer status was not enough for me to land that dream job in an established company. I had derived a unique process of editing, filming and working with clients. My methods were not recognised in the industry, but I’m always so insistent on doing things my way, that I would never fit in anywhere. This drove me to start my own company and I actively generated work for myself and taught myself the necessary skills. When my career kicked off I was very committed and invested a lot of time and money in my business. Every project at hand was (and is!) worthy and I think this attitude toward my work has allowed myself and my company to develop.
What kind of woman are you?
I’m a headstrong committed, positive and very busy woman! I strive to reach goals and produce work that will inspire an audience, put a smile on a clients face and feel satisfied within my heart. This is the woman I am when it comes to business-when it comes to being just me, I’m often described as crazy! I like to have a laugh, this keeps me settled. Crazy is beautiful. Right? What drives you to run your business?
My drive to run my business solely comes from the people around me, the ones who have a vision, the ones who believe in me. I want to prove that I can do it, I want to prove that a young, black, female filmmaker & photographer can exist and she can make a dent on the industry. I’m not there yet, but one day!Why do you do what you do for a living?
I do what I do for a living, because it’s quite frankly the only thing I care about. When I think or talk about my work, I’m focused and happy. I have worked many jobs that I am proud of, but nothing can catch my attention like this job.Who has been the biggest help to your career to date?
Myself. What kind of teenager were you?
As a teenager, I was very cheeky! I had brilliant teenage years. Enjoyed it thoroughly. They (all the adults) were not wrong when they said, “School years are the best years of your life”What has been your biggest challenge in business/career?
So far-maintaining positive relationships with all clients and collaborators. In media production you cross paths with many creatives, with a strong passion and vision. Their concepts may clash with mine, but I know in order to keep my business and career in a progressive state, I must maintain a buoyant disposition at all times. What is your biggest regret?
I haven’t a single regret in life. I have no idea what regret feels like! I am an extremely positive person and always see the good side in any decisions and experiences that come my way. I believe by disregarding the notion of regret it makes you more driven to succeed and not to focus on a feeling that will divert your attention from your aimsWhat has been the highlight of your career/business so far?
The highlight of my career so far has to be the realisation that I am living my career out. I often take time to evaluate my situation and appreciate that I am living through a career I always fantasized about. These moments are my highlight!
“What I know is life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”
