Be your own admirer this Valentine’s Day

This year Valentine’s falls on a Sunday. And what are Sunday’s made for? Resting.

I am very much single. Unless I find the perfect guy on my four-hour commute to and from work, or my 20 minute break to Sainsbury’s to find out what soup is on offer – likelihood is, things aren’t going to change for a while. So, for me, this Sunday presents a great opportunity to spoil myself with my favourite things. I invite you to join me and be your own admirer this Valentine’s Day. Here’s how I plan to do it:

    1. Snack at the ready

Before any day of relaxtion can begin, you need to make sure you have your favourite snack at hand. I’m a crisp and dip type of girl deep at heart, but this Valentine’s I’m treating myself to these luxurious pots of goodness. Lavolio are hand-made, artisan sweets. Each collection contains a unique assortment of real caramelised pieces of fruit, whole nuts or apple‐based jellies, some may be layered in chocolate, and others infused with spices. As an added bonus they’re also Vegetarian and Gluten-free friendly. Sold? Thought so. Luckily for us Lavolio Boutique Confectionary has won a Pop-Up retail space in Old Street Station until 13th February, open 7am-7pm. Each collection is reasonably priced at £12 – you can peruse the full collection here: www.lavolio.com.

    2. Bath time

Getting on the London Underground everyday is tiring. The pace is fast, the air is sticky and the people a tad grumpy. Therefore, this Sunday take a long soak and relax those aching muscles. Grab yourself a bath bomb to give yourself that extra little treat. I would recommend Lush’s special edition ‘Tisty Tosty’ bath bomb at £3.50. Including seven real rosebuds, this beautiful combination of floral orris root powder, Turkish Rose and Sicilian lemon will really put you in a good frame of mind for the working week ahead.

    3. Let’s not forget our skin

We all say it, but there really aren’t enough hours in a day. This is why Champneys’ has released a new range to give us ‘a well deserved treat’. It’s important we find the time to look after our skin, especially in this brutally cold weather. ‘Cloud Nine Indulgent Body Butter’ (£10), will do just the trick. The fruity notes of plum and orange mixed with the musky scents of vanilla and tonka make this product irresistibly good.

    4. Free gift I hear you say?

On the lead up to Valentine’s Day, cosmetic brand e.l.f are giving you their red-hot ‘Fearless Essential Lipstick’ FREE with any purchase. Yes that’s right FREE! The offer is only available online and until 11.59pm on 14 February. So during the day, kick back with a cuppa and treat yourself without the guilt of spending money because after all you are getting two things for the price of one!

    5. My Serenity, Moonlight, Peony and Lemongrass & Ginger

What am I talking about? Yankee candles of course! This January they revealed four new beautiful scents and have created a nice little gift set for us to try all four! Votive Happiness Box: My Serenity is only £6.99 and will set the mood for a perfect night watching classic chick flicks, starting with Mean Girls. Naturally.

So there we have it. Let Valentine’s Day be the day to think about number one.
