In the meantime, read on to hear about the experience of Anu Manthri, a 2021 Climber.

    Meet Anu

Anu is passionate about education and supporting young people to achieve their potential. After qualifying as a teacher with Teach First and completing an MSc in Public Policy, Anu took this experience to become a diversity champion in the charity and public sectors.

She worked to broaden the career potential of young people from diverse backgrounds with a special interest in social mobility. In her role at Teach First, she developed nationally recognised award-winning reporting and governance structures for diversity and inclusion. At Bright Network, Anu continued to encourage young people to build their dream careers and works with a portfolio of employer clients who want to meet and engage with the brightest diverse talent.

Anu also works as a professional mentor via the Amos Bursary and, as of September 2022, has just started in her new role within Education at Google.

    Career trajectory

Anu explained how The Climb membership impacted her career trajectory: “I joined the Climb initiative because I wanted to dedicate some time to focusing on myself and my professional development, outside of the sphere of performance reviews at work.”

She added, “it’s a great opportunity to reflect and consider what I enjoy, where my development areas are and how to utilise my network. The Climb did help me to consider my next steps and plan my future.”

    Self-improvement

The Climb focuses on self-improvement holistically through a career and personal audit. Then, once we’ve delved deeper, The Climb helps members introduce ongoing practices and tools.

Sharing a valuable lesson she learned during the program, Anu told us, “I read a great post on LinkedIn recently about how imposter syndrome is just you temporarily forgetting how great you are. I think working on yourself helps you rediscover your passion for improvement. I felt super focused on my goals, and the Climb helped me to carve out time and tools to do this.”

     Finding your tribe

Along with plenty of actionable advice, The Climb also gives members access to a like-minded community. Anu explained the importance of finding your tribe: “on the Climb, there are plenty of handy tips and tools, but sometimes all you need is a community backing you, and vice versa. It was the supportive, nurturing community that I really enjoyed.”

    New beginnings

Since completing The Climb, Anu has secured a role at Google. Sharing how The Climb contributed to her new role, Anu told us, “I started my new job this September at Google, and I’m sure that the support of the Climb network helped me.”

When asked to summarise The Climb in three words, Anu chose supportive, ambitious and focused.

Ready to elevate? Sign up here before doors close on 30th September. We can’t wait to welcome you to The Climb community!
