    TEDxTalks to make you think

There’s no excuse for not watching TEDxTalks. Whether you’re a student or work full-time, you can definitely spare 10 minutes or so to be inspired. You can. I’ve watched a talk on the importance of exploring whilst washing up; Sheryl Sandberg when winding down; and an American ex-convict when cooking. That’s the thing about TEDxTalks, it doesn’t matter where you watch them, so long as you do. And we’ve found the ones you should make a note to watch, whatever mood you’re in, whatever you’re doing.

This talk on feminism by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is completely uplifting. Most of her anecdotes of her experiences are set in Nigeria, but they could happen anywhere. This is one of the longer talks (30 minutes) but it’s so worth it. The subject may be serious but Chimamanda makes it amusing. Watch it, then share it with everyone you know.

Engineering is something my brother does. It’s something my Stepdad’s made a career out of. But it’s also something that I could do. I’m only just realising this, but there are some women who have already made this realisation and you should watch one of them…

Forget Mr Right, here’s the person you should marry. And why that person is the most important and precious person in the world. It’ll make you think and it’ll make you re-evaluate how to interact with the most important person in your world: you. It’s short but deep and there’s no wonder Tracy gets emotional at the end.

Stress has the potential to not only ruin my day, but my week. Sometimes even a whole month. You stress about something small, then stress that you shouldn’t be stressed because it’s bad for you, then that stress spirals into more stress and so on and so on until ‘arghhhh’. But what if stress is actually good for you? What if…

Who better to give you a pep talk and more than a little inspiration but Sheryl Sandberg herself? Whether you want to own your company, be CEO of someone else’s or not, this lady speaks sense. After I watched this talk I was thinking about it for days afterwards and telling everyone I knew to drop everything and watch. Now I’m telling you too!
