Halloween: Make-up 101
Halloween is this weekend! Even though it is a fixed date in the calendar I still find it to be a last minute panic to find a fancy dress outfit more creative than the last. The next problem I have is the make-up to accompany the outfit. Halloween make-up is a craftsmanship in it’s own right. There is a fine line between looking ghoulish and just plain hideous. So I have searched the web to find some quick fixes this Halloween.
Firstly I came across this ingenious take on vampire fangs. All you need is a bright red lipstick and some white face paint to hand draw on the fangs.
For your eyes a red eye shadow will look best, Illamasqua’s Powder Eye Shadow in Daemon Bright Scarlett Red is a great colour to use to stand out on the night. To create the thick eye lines use Maybelline’s Master Kajal eyeliner as the felt tip end gives great precision. Finally exaggerate your eyebrows using a product similar to Soap&Glory’s D.I.Y Brow Bar to finish of the fierce look.
Illamasqua have also set up a Halloween blog containing tutorials on how to create a range of looks from ‘dead skull’ to ‘dead graphic’. They have also very kindly outlined which products you need to create this look. Of course they are only pinpointing you to Illamasqua products, but there is no harm in popping out to Boots on your lunch break to seek cheaper options. If you have a really big party this weekend and you want to get your look just right, Illamasqua are doing Halloween makeovers in Selfridges between 29th-31st October.
