    Insider Beauty Tips: Georgia Chabrel

Last week I caught up with the beautiful Georgia Chabrel, make-up artist for luxury cosmetic brand, Hourglass. In the interview she explains how she got into the industry, what products are on her radar at the moment and of course gives us some all important insider tips.

So what was your pathway to becoming a make-up artist?

I knew I wanted to be a makeup artist since I was 14 years old. I was fascinated by film and theatre makeup and how you could turn yourself into a completely different person by using cosmetic products. As I got older I loved beauty and fashion, having the talent to make someone feel beautiful and confident is such a gift! Firstly, I studied a year of Beauty Therapy which gave me the base of my knowledge around beauty and makeup, I then completed two years of Specialist Makeup at West Thames College in West London to advance my skills. I learnt beauty, fashion, film, theatre, SFX and body painting makeup. While studying I did as much freelance work as possible even unpaid, but it all pays off in the end when you gain the experience and the industry contacts. After studying I started my career at Benefit Cosmetics where I learnt so much about the industry and the business side. After two years I became a Business Manager for Hourglass Cosmetics, a new up and coming brand that produces stunning makeup products. I can’t wait to see how this company grows and I am so glad to be a part of it!

What’s your favourite product by Hourglass at the moment?

Veil Primer – I can never do my makeup without it now. It completely waterproofs my makeup all day and at the same time it reduces redness in the skin and gives a smooth semi matte finish.

What’s the best beauty tip your mum gave you?

A good skin care routine is the most important thing. Makeup makes you feel beautiful but your skin stays with you forever, so taking care of it is crucial. Everyone needs a good moisturiser otherwise your makeup won’t sit right and its so important to remove your makeup properly in the evening with a good cleanser and face wash. My favourite skin care products at the moment are Dermalogica Precleanse Gel and Chanel Hydra Beauty Gel Crème.

There are so many foundations available on the high street, which one makes it into your make-up bag?

Hourglass Immaculate Foundation – This foundation completely saved my skin. It’s made for oily and acne prone skin and it has a perfect liquid to powder light weight finish which leaves a full coverage. It has completely changed my skin type that I can now where Hourglass Illusion Skin Tint – a beautiful full coverage foundation which leaves a radiant finish on the skin. It works amazingly for dry/normal skin types and I would highly recommend it for anyone who suffers from Eczema.

Georgia, you have perfectly shaped brows. What’s your favorite brow product at the moment?

I use Hourglass Arch Sculpting Brow pencil in Dark Brunette – it gives a perfect natural powder finish to the brow with the definition of a wax product, and it’s all put into an easy to use brow pencil! It’s completely waterproof so I never worry about smudging and it comes with a brush on the end to neaten the brow line. Highly recommend to any age or hair colour!

    What’s your signature scent?

It took me years to find the scent that I really feel is perfect for me. Chanel CoCo Mademoiselle is my go to perfume and I’ll never be able to change!

What’s your go to lipstick or lip-gloss?

Personally I always feel good in a classic red lip – Hourglass Opaque Rouge in Raven is the most long lasting red lipstick I have ever come across! But on my days off I like to keep natural with a tinted lip balm like the Dior Addict range.

Finally, if you could give our readers any beauty tip, what would it be?

Always wear Blusher! I never like my makeup until I’ve applied my blusher, either a dusty pink or coral. Blusher gives the whole complexion more warmth; it defines the cheeks and breaks up the face by softening the features. If you ever feel like your complexion looks pale or flat add blusher and it makes all the difference.

Hourglass is available at John Lewis Bluewater, Kingston and York.
